MOT cost .

Tool · reg-aware estimator

What will your MOT actually cost?

Type a reg, we'll read its MOT history and pre-tick what it'll likely need. Or pick a class and tick yourself. Six classes. 32+ items. Per-class pricing. Class 7 vans aren't Class 4 cars.

Free. No account. Reg never stored. Skip if you'd rather pick by hand.

Vehicle class

Class 4a (cars with seatbelt check) and Class 5a (16+ seat PSVs) follow the same fix list with higher statutory fees — switch to the closest match if those apply to you.

Likely fixes

Items that don't apply to the chosen class are hidden. Quantity buttons let you bump from 1 axle to 2, from 1 tyre to 4. Per-class pricing applies — Class 7 commercial tyres run roughly 2× Class 4 passenger.

Sources & method: Statutory fees from gov.uk. Fix-cost ranges aggregated from Checkatrade, Halfords Auto Centres, Kwik Fit, ATS Euromaster. Likely-fix pre-selection compares each car's MOT history defects + the make/model's top-failure ranking against this estimator's fix-pattern list. Model-specific big-bill items (Alfa Mito column, Ford Powershift, BMW N47 chain etc.) come from a curated wiki; not all UK cars are covered yet.
