  2. GEARBOX MAY FAIL

    Under extreme conditions certain gearbox components may break or deform causing a loss of drive. This can elevate the risk of collision.

  3. RISK OF FIRE

    It is possible for an oil leak to occur from the O-Ring on the Oil Delivery Pipe where it enters the engine case because of improper assembly of the components. If a leak occurs oil could leak onto the exhaust and in extreme circumstances the oil could catch fire.

    Remedy

    Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and replace the Oil Delivery Pipe O-Ring.

  4. POSSIBILITY OF LOSS OF CONTROL

    The rear shock absorber piston rod nut may come loose. The shock absorber performance may be affected possibly causing a loss of machine control. The manufacturer recomends the machine is not ridden until the concern is assessed and where necessary repaired.

    Remedy

    Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and check if the machine is fitted with an affected shock absorber. Where an affected unit is fitted the complete shock absorber will be replaced.

  5. HEADLIGHT MAY MALFUNCTION

    In certain circumstances the headlamp wiring coupler may overheat which in the worst case can cause the headlamp to fail

  6. ENGINE IDLE SPEED MAY NOT RETURN TO NORMAL

    Under certain circumstances a poor connection between APS and TPS may cause an incorrect signal to the ECU which in extreme cases may result in the engine idle speed not returning to the specified level even when the throttle is closed.

    Remedy

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to add a sub-lead to bypass the potentially poor connection.

  7. ENGINE MAY STALL

  8. BOND BETWEEN BRAKE PAD MATERIAL AND BACKING PLATE MAY FAIL

    A) There is a possibility that the bond between the brake pad material and its backing plate on the original/standard front brake pad may become weakened due to corrosion and eventually may fail with a possible loss of braking ability from the front brake

    Remedy

    A) Recall affected machines and replace front brake pads with a modified type.

  9. SIDE STAND SWITCH MAY NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY

    There is a possibility that the screws holding the side stand switch may vibrate loose and eventually fall out. The switch would not then function correctly and it may be possible to start the engine and ride the machine with the side stand down.

    Remedy

    Recall affected machines to replace screws holding the side stand switch with a combination of bolts and nuts.

  10. POSSIBLE FAILURE OF PRIMARY DRIVE GEAR BACK PLATE

    Yamaha Motor Co. have identified a potential defect with the back plate of the primary drive gear which may cause it to fail under certain conditions of use. In exceptional circumstances this may cause the engine to lock.

    Remedy

    Recall affected machines and replace the primary drive gear with a quality assured unit.
