  1. Roof Mounted H2 Fuel Tank Support Bracket Bolts May Loosen

    Defect

    Bolts in the brackets supporting the five roof mounted H2 tanks located at each end of each tank have the potential to loosen and drop out permitting movement of the bracket(s) and attached tank(s) with secondary movement in the associated system pipework. Under extreme braking conditions or if the vehicle is involved in a road traffic accident the roof tanks may become dislodged or become detached from the vehicle.

    Remedy

    replacement of all bolts and nuts on the frame and frame attachment

    Weaknesses identified in the exterior roof mounted hydrogen gas tanks support frame may lead to a failure of the frame during a vehicle impact.

    Remedy

    Addition of structural beam and support brackets to the tank frame.

    A hydrogen cylinder inner liner may fail on one of the five roof mounted tanks causing hydrogen gas to escape from the pressurised cylinder to atmosphere.

    Remedy

    The affected hydrogen tanks will be replaced with a revised variant.
