Defect

On affected vehicles the front left and right control arm ball-joint bracket screws are at risk of fracture which could affect the vehicle's controllability.

Remedy

Inspect the marking on the left and right front ball-joint bracket and change if necessary.

Defect

On affected vehicles the engine will run all the time and will not shut off in start/stop mode due to incorrect Body Control Module coding.

Remedy

Update the Body Control Module software.

Defect

Vehicles may be affected by incorrect performance of the On-Board-Diagnostics related to Selective Catalytic Reduction system and/or Diesel Particle Filter. The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) may not illuminate in the event of a malfunction and therefore does not comply with emission regulations.

Remedy

Update the Engine Control Unit software to ensure compliance to regulations.

Defect

On affected vehicles there there may be loose connections between a high-pressure fuel pipe and the engine fuel rail which potentially could lead to a leak and risk of fire.

Remedy

Retighten the affected connections.

Defect

Vehicles may be affected by premature wearing of the camshaft drive chain leading to abnormal noise or to a breakage of the chain in the worst case.

Remedy

Update the software to improve oil pressure and reduce wear. Check the engine noise and replace the chain if required. If no problem found change the oil to one with higher viscosity and special anti-wear additives.

Defect

On affected vehicles the low-pressure fuel pipe could come in to contact with one of the ignition coil screws. This could lead to fuel pipe damage over time resulting in a fuel leak.

Remedy

Fix the low-pressure fuel pipe to the crankcase breather hose with a cable tie to ensure there is no contact between the ignition coil screw and the fuel pipe.

Defect

Affected vehicles may experience an autonomous telematic box that cannot connect to the remote server making it not possible to make calls or use other connected services.

Remedy

Disconnect the 12V battery and reconnect it after 15 seconds then check for a trouble code.

Defect

Affected vehicles may face potential leakage of the under-bonnet fuel pipe due to a weakness of its crimping.

Remedy

Change the fuel pipe.

Defect

On affected vehicles the wiring harness for both front seats may be routed incorrectly which may lead to a short circuit and the potential risk of a non-working airbag.

Remedy

Check and if necessary re-route the wiring harness.

Defect

On affected vehicles the fixing bolts on the front left or right bracket on the lower control arm may break. In the worst-case scenario 2 broken bolts could affect the controllability of the vehicle.

Remedy

Change the front left and right ball joint brackets.

Defect

Affected vehicles may have a too low torque on the wheel bolts that could lead to loose wheels or wheel detachment in a worst case scenario.

Remedy

Check and re-torque wheel bolts if necessary.

Defect

The engine pistons may not be according to specification leading to oil entry in the inlet circuit. In a worst case this may cause an increased engine rpm for a few seconds possibly resulting in a total engine failure.

Remedy

Perform a test of the engine to establish if the pistons are to specification. Where necessary the engine will be replaced.
