  1. ABILITY TO CHANGE GEAR MAY BE AFFECTED AND NEUTRAL INDICATED WITH GEAR SELECTED

    The instruments may indicate neutral is selected when the machine is in gear which could lead to the machine jumping forward at junctions or the rider changing gear unnecessarily. Additionally a weak detent arm spring could cause poor gear changing necessitating additional time selecting gears.

    Remedy

    Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to replace the detent arm spring and replace the neutral switch washer.

  2. ACCESSORY RACK MAY CAUSE INSTABILITY IF OVERLOADED

    It has been identified that the luggage top carriage may have insufficient lateral movement. Should this be the case the stability of the machine might be affected if ridden with the accessories fitted at speeds far in excess of the 80 mph/130kph limit warning.

    Remedy

    Recalled machines will be checked to ensure that the carriage has sufficient lateral movement.

  3. REAR SUSPENSION BOLT MAY SHEAR

    It has been identified following engineering investigation that the rear suspension drag link to drop link sleeves and bolt as fitted to a number of models requires replacement. If left the bolt may bend or in the worst case shear. Should the bolt shear this would result in the machine's rear end dropping until the rear tyre came into contact with the underside of the rear mudguard.

    Remedy

    Subject machines will have the suspension link sleeve and bolt replaced.

  4. STOP BOLT MAY SHEAR

    The rear brake caliper anti-rotation device (stop bolt) may shear. If this occurs the caliper will strike the swinging arm.

    Remedy

    Recall the motorcycles that are likely to be affected to remove the original stop bolt and replace for a modified bolt

  5. DRIVE CHAIN MAY CONTACT REAR BRAKE HOSE

    The final drive chain may contact rear brake hose. In extreme cases this could cause the rear brake hose to fail and result in no braking effort to the rear.

    Remedy

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and fit a 'P' clip to ensure the brake hose remains clear of the chain.

  6. ENGINE MAY OVERHEAT

    The coolant by-pass hose may split causing loss of coolant from the engine resulting in possible engine overheating damage and seizure.

  11. POSSIBLE FRACTURE OF THE FINAL DRIVE CHAIN

    Due to an inappropriate heat treatment being applied during the manufacturing process a possibility exists that the final drive chain may fracture whilst the motorcycle is in use. Should failure occur loss of drive and possibly motorcycle instability may result.

    Remedy

    Recall all affected motorcycles for the fitment of a quality controlled replacement drive chain.

  12. POSSIBLE OIL CONTAMINATION OF REAR TYRE

    In some extreme cases oil can weep from between the engine crankcase halves due to slackening of the securing bolts. This seepage occurs forward of the rear tyre and may in extreme cases cause vehicle instability.

    Remedy

    Recall affected machines and replace the original lower crankcase bolts with quality assured bolts.
