  1. POSSIBLE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL

    R/1995/068 · 30 Oct 1995

    30 Oct 1995

    Defect

The steering idler arm may not have adequate end clearance on its fulcrum and could pick up on its retaining nut shearing the split pin. This could allow detachment of the nut with an adverse effect on steering control.

    Remedy

Recall the affected vehicles and check that the steering idler arm has adequate end clearance on its fulcrum. Where the clearance is insufficient the correct clearance will be established by shimming.
