  1. BRAKES MAY ACTIVATE WITHOUT WARNING

    Defect

    It has been identified that the software on vehicles equipped with Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB) system has an error in its programming. This could cause the AEB system to incorrectly registered a collision risk with a stationary object and brake the vehicle to avoid a collision. This could result in the drive loosing control or an emergency braking situation without the drivers knowledge.

    Remedy

    Recall all affected vehicles and upload new software to the AEB system.

  2. TYRE TREAD MAY SEPARATE

    The tyre tread may detach and adversely affect the control of the vehicle. The separated tread could also adversely affect other road users.

    Remedy

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to have tyres from the affected batches. All tyres fitted to the vehicle are to be checked including the spare. The tyres that are in the affected batches are to be changed out.

  3. BRAKE PEDAL FOOT PLATE MAY DETACH

    The brake and clutch pedal foot plates may detach due to deficient quality of welding that holds them to the brake pedal lever. This could cause the foot to fall off either control and cause an incident.

    Remedy

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to check the welding brake foot plate to brake lever and where necessary fit new brake and/or clutch pedal assemblies.

  4. FIFTH WHEEL AND REAR SUSPENSION MOUNTINGS COULD BE COMPROMISED

    There have been instances where the M20 screws securing the spring brackets for the driven and tag axles and fifth wheel brackets have not been tightened to the correct torque. This condition if not attended to could lead to the loss of the trailer or loss of directional control.

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to check and where necessary tighten the M20 and M14 bolts to the correct torque.

  5. FIFTH WHEEL MOUNTING PLATE MAY DETACH

    The fifth wheel mounting plate may become loose or in the worst case fall off as a result of the mounting bolts being inadequate.

    Remedy

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the fifth wheel mounting plate screws with longer higher strength screws spacing sleeves and lock nuts.
