  3. A NON-DESSICATED PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR WAS USED DURING PREVIOUS RECALL TO REPLACE THIS COMPONENT

    In 2013 Nissan announced a Recall campaign to replace Takata SPI front passenger airbag inflators. A non-dessicated passenger airbag inflator was used for the replacement. Although there have been no known incidents associated with inflators of this type Nissan has decided to replace all inflators previously repaired with a non-dessicated inflator to a new dessicated version.

    Remedy

    Replace the front passenger airbag inflator with a new dessicated type.

    The air bag inflators on affected vehicles were previously checked and deemed to be serviceable. As a precautionary measure the manufacturer has decided to replace them with new assemblies.

  5. STOP LAMP MAY NOT BE FUNCTIONING AS EXPECTED

    It has been identified that under certain unusual conditions the High Mounted Stop Lamp (HMSL) fitted to Navara accessory hardtops does not illuminate simultaneously with the vehicle's stop lamps. During engine start it is possible that a voltage drop can occur which may fall below the HMSL operating threshold. This may result in HMSL not illuminating following engine start.

    Remedy

    Recall all affected vehicles to modify wiring and the supply to the HMSL.

  6. PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG MAY FAIL TO DEPLOY CORRECTLY

    The manufacturer has identified that a potential air leak at the passenger airbag inflators which may allow moisture to enter the airbag inflator causing the propellant in the inflator units to deteriorate. Deterioration of the propellant may lead to abnormal deployment of the passenger airbag. In an extreme situation this may result in separation of the airbag housing during deployment causing injury to occupants.

    Remedy

    Inspect air bag assembly and where required replace air bag inflator

  8. BALL JOINT MAY DISCONNECT

    The front lower suspension/steering ball joint retaining ring may not have been manufactured to specification. This could in extreme circumstances result in the detachment of the ball joint from its housing. This can then cause loss of control of the vehicle.

    Remedy

    Recall all affected vehicles to check and if required replace the lower link ball joint.

  9. PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG MAY FAIL TO DEPLOY CORRECTLY

    The subject vehicles are equipped with front passenger airbag inflators which could have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant wafers. Improperly manufactured propellant wafers could cause the inflator to rupture and the front passenger airbag to deploy abnormally in a crash. This could result in increased risk of injury to the occupant and the possibility of a fire.

    Remedy

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect and where necessary replace the airbag inflator module.

  10. DRIVER SEAT FAULT

    The Drivers power seat harness may become trapped between the metal seat bracket and the seat lifter Mechanism. If the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition damage to the harness may occur and this can result in loss of operation of the driver's power seat. In extreme circumstances unexpected self-operation of the driver's power seat base may occur.

    Remedy

    Inspection of the driver's power seat harness for correct installation rectify if necessary. If the harness is damaged it will be replaced with new.

  11. POSSIBLE WHEEL DETACHMENT

    In certain rare conditions where the vehicle is used fully loaded and cornering with high lateral acceleration a crack may occur on the spoke of the aluminium wheel. If this condition is ignored and the vehicle continues to be driven the crack may propagate around other wheel spokes. This condition is expected to create a change in the vehicle handling and in extreme cases could lead to wheel detachment.

  13. REAR WHEEL BEARING MAY FAIL

    A concern has been identified relating to the incorrect assembly of the rear axle. This may result in excessive wear of the wheel bearings which will lead to noise occurring from the rear axle. If this is not rectified the bearing may ultimately fail resulting in the assembly becoming detached from the axle.

    Remedy

    Recalled vehicles will be checked and fitted with new halfshafts as required.

  14. STEERING CONTROL MAY BE LOST

    A concern has been identified relating to the fitment of the steering shaft lower joint. Should the joint become detached steering control will be lost.

    Remedy

    Recalled vehicles will have the subject joint inspected and the clamp bolt will be renewed if required.

  15. PROPSHAFT MAY DETACH FROM VEHICLE

    Insufficient torque may have been applied to the propshaft securing bolts during production and this could lead to vibration. If the concern is not rectified the propshaft may detach from the vehicle.

    Remedy

    Affected vehicles will be recalled and inspected if necessary the propshaft securing bolts will be replaced.
