    Defect

    The fuel pre-filter heating may fail because of damage caused by scorching on the relay and its electrical connection. In extreme cases a fire could be possible.

    Remedy

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and check the relay for the fuel pre-filter heating. Where necessary replace the relay. The relay will only be re-sited if it is replaced. In all cases the protective sleeve must be fitted to the relay and wiring.

    During manufacturer of the manually operated parking brake valve some of the drillings were formed incorrectly. This concern may lead to cracks forming loss of air and the parking brake applying whilst the vehicle is in motion.

  4. FIRE MAY OCCUR

    Oil may emerge from cylinder head cover in the event of engine damage. In the worst case scenario this could cause a fire hazard if leaking oil comes into contact with parts of the exhaust system.Some engine damage may cause high pressures in the crankcase. In extreme cases oil may escape at the cylinder head cover.

    Replace cylinder head cover screws on the air intake manifold side for screws with springs

  5. WHEEL BEARING MAY FAIL

    Under certain operating conditions it is possible that the wheel bearing or a tyre on the leading or trailing tag axles can fail as a result of a brake overheat. If the driver ignores warning signs it is possible the wheel and hub could detach or the tyre could blow out.

    Remedy

    As an interim action recall all affected vehicles to check the tolerance on the brake calipers fitted to these axles. Where necessary the dealer will replace specific brake components and fit wheel nut indicators to act as heat/melting indicators. Full action recall all affected vehicle to have new brake calipers fitted.

  6. DIRECTIONAL CONTROL MAY BE AFFECTED

    The front live axle brake anchor plates may not be secure which if not attended to could ultimately lead to the directional control being affected.

  7. INADVERTENT APPLICATION OF THE PARKING BRAKE

    It has been identified that a number of the subject vehicles have been fitted with faulty Voss air distributor check valves which do not afford the prime mover parking brake system reliable protection in the event of the trailer air supply lines becoming holed or torn away. Should a trailer air supply line disconnect or holing situation occur there is the potential for the prime mover rear axle parking brakes to actuate causing the vehicle to slow down or in some cases suffer rear wheel lock with no driver input.

    Remedy

    Recalled vehicles will have the subject valve replaced with a quality assured item.

  8. EBS MAY NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY UNDER BRAKING

    It has been identified that a problem exists with the brake modules fitted to EBS 5 braking systems. The modules affected are front and rear axle pressure controls additionally the trailer control. It is reported that the fault affects service brake operation in that it could initiate braking on one side more than the other with the possibility of the vehicle veering to one side. Should this happen an accident might ensue.

    Remedy

    Recalled vehicles will have the EBS control modules re-programmed as necessary.

  9. STEERING MAY FAIL

  14. DRIVER AND CO-DRIVER'S SEATS MAY TIP TO THE REAR

    The squeezer nut which is part of the scissor-type lever assembly on the seat rack may work loose. This may cause damage to the seat rack and in extreme cases the seat rack may fail. If this occurs there is a risk of the seat tipping rearward which could potentially affect the driver's control of the vehicle.

    Recall all affected vehicles for inspection and replacement of damages seat scissor-type lever assemblies as required.

  19. SEAT HEATER MAY OVERHEAT AND CAUSE SMOULDERING.

  22. STEERING COLUMN UNIVERSAL JOINT AND COLUMN SUPPORT BRACKET CONCERNS.

    (1) The ball joint where the steering column double joint is centred can jump out of its socket. (2) The retaining plates for the ball joint in the upper universal joint in the steering column may work loose and obstruct free rotation of the column. (3) The steering column support bracket fasteners may not have been tightened to the specified torque.

    Remedy

    (1) Check the production date of the jointed steering shaft and fit a quality assured replacement where necessary. (2) Check the rivets securing the retaining plates. If the riveting is defective fit a new steering shaft. (3) Check the steering column support bracket fasteners for correct torque.

  25. COMPRESSED AIR SYSTEM CAN FREEZE UP

    Air from the compressor may freeze up in the spiral cooling pipe and in the pipe upstream of the air dryer or ECAM unit. This could reduce the efficiency of the service brakes.

    Remedy

    Recall affected vehicles and replace the spiral cooling pipe with a shorter version. Also replace the polyamide pipe leading from the steel pipe in the frame to the ECAM unit or to the air dryer by a steel pipe.

  26. INCORRECT AIR BRAKE PIPING CONNECTIONS

    It has been found on some of the F2000 and TGA variants fitted with the Hendrickson Mid-Lift Axle assembly that the connections to the relay valve fitted to this application may have been incorrectly connected to the ports 41 and 1.
