    Certain machines may exhibit a condition that can result in the brake lamp(s) remaining illuminated regardless of whether the service brakes are applied.

    Remedy

    Owners of affected machines will be advised to make arrangements with an authorised Harley-Davidson dealer who will perform the remedy at no charge to the customer. Dealers will apply a software update to affected Touring and CVO Touring vehicles. Dealers will apply a software update and install a new pressure switch on affected Trike and CVO Trike vehicles.

  2. AIR INGRESS INTO THE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER MAY CAUSE A FAILURE TO GENERATE SUFFICIENT LIFT TO DISENGAGE CLUTCH FULLY

    Air ingress to the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder causing insufficient disengagement.

    Remedy

    Replace cluch slave cylinder piston and seal.

  3. POTENTIAL LOSS OF BRAKE FUNCTION ON BIKES FITTED WITH ABS

    If the brake fluid has not been changed as per manufacturer's instructions deposits may form which may affect the operation of the ABS module. Continued use may lead to loss of braking.

    Remedy

    On affected vehicles flush the brake systems and replace with an uprated specification fluid.

    An oil line may not have been correctly clamped which may allow oil to leak.

    Remedy

    On affected machines check for correct installation of the clamp. where necessary replace clamp.

  5. LOSS OF CONTROL

    Hydraulic clutch master cylinder may fail to disengage engine on initial gear engagement leading to the machine lurching forward and falling over. This condition gives an elevated risk of injury to the rider and bystanders.

    Remedy

    Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to inspect and clean the clutch master cylinder piston. Where necessary the master cylinder piston will be replaced.

  6. REAR BRAKE SWITCH MAY FAIL

    The rear brake lamp switch may become exposed to temperatures that degrade its performance. This condition may affect brake lamp function and /or cause a brake fluid leak through the rear brake switch affecting rear brake performance.

    Remedy

    Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to check and where necessary replace the rear brake lamp switch using the recall kit.

  7. FUEL TAP READS INCORRECTLY

    Certain 2004 model year carburettor equipped motorcycles have been fitted with a fuel tap where the 'On' and 'Reserve' markings have been transposed.

    Remedy

    Replace the fuel valve (tap).
