  1. POSSIBLE BRAKE FAILURE

    Defect

    The brake fluid in the front brake system could be contaminated. The contamination can cause the brake fluid to gel and / or corrosion to the master cylinder banjo bolt threads sufficiently severe to cause leakage or failure. If either of the conditions occur it will lead to a reduction in brake performance and increase the risk of a collision / incident.

    Remedy

    Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to replace the banjo bolt brake fluid and where necessary the master cylinder.

  2. ENGINE MAY TURN OFF UNEXPECTEDLY

    Affected vehicles have an ignition switch fitted in the top engine bracket. At certain engine speed this bracket can vibrate and may cause the ignition switch to turn to the ACC position and cause the engine to stall.

    Remedy

    Replace engine bracket and switch components.

  3. BATTERY TERMINALS MAY SHORT AGAINST BATTERY COVER

    It is possible that under normal riding conditions a battery securing bolt may loosen allowing the battery to move. This can lead to the protective boot on the battery postive abrading through and shorting on the battery cover causing sparks and possibly fire.

    Remedy

    Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the centre battery securing bolt with a new bolt that has a locking patch on the threads.

  4. FUEL TAP READS INCORRECTLY

    Certain 2004 model year carburettor equipped motorcycles have been fitted with a fuel tap where the 'On' and 'Reserve' markings have been transposed.

    Remedy

    Replace the fuel valve (tap).

    On the affected machines the possibility exists that the internal lining of the fuel hose may separate from the hose outer leading to a possible fuel leak.

    Affected machines will have the fuel line replaced

  7. FUEL MAY LEAK

    Certain 2004 Dyna range motorcycles may have a condition which allows the throttle cables to contact the underside of the fuel tank. This could eventually lead to them wearing through the tank causing a fuel leak.

    Remedy

    Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and modify the throttle cable retention. The throttle cable and tank will be replaced as necessary.

  8. NEUTRAL GEAR LIGHT MAY ILLUMINATE WHEN MACHINE IS IN GEAR

    Remedy

  9. REAR BRAKE HOSE MAY FRACTURE

    The rear brake flexible hose may fracture internally leading to a loss of hydraulic fluid and rear brake operation without prior warning.

    Remedy

    Fit a new brake hose.
