  1. DIRECTIONAL CONTROL MAY BE LOST

    Defect

    Due to incorrect specified locknuts it is possible for the steering column universal joint clamp nut and bolt to loosen. This can result in a reduction of clamping force and subsequent detachment of the steering column universal joint which can result in loss of directional control.

    Remedy

    Recall the affected vehicles to check and replace the subject nuts. If movement is detected between the joint and column the dealer will contact MAN UK for instruction on the course of rectification.

  2. FAILURE OF STEERING BOLTS

    A batch of bolts used to secure the steering arms to the stub axles are below specification and could fail with loss of steering control. This campaign supersedes recall R1995/025. The parc involved in that recall has been extended and any vehicle

    A batch of bolts used to secure the steering arms to the stub axles are below specification and could fail with loss of steering control.

    Recall the affected vehicles and replace the subject bolts with quality assured examples.

  4. STEERING GEAR MOUNTING

    Defect

    The bolts securing the steering gear adaptor plate to the chassis mounting casting may not have been tightened to the correct torque at initial assembly. If not corrected this could have an effect on steering control.

    Remedy

    Recall the affected vehicles and check the torque of the steering gear adaptor plate to chassis bracket bolts tightening to the manufacturers specification where necessary. Any bolts suspected of being damaged due to looseness should be replaced.
