  2. OIL LEAKAGE FROM OIL COOLER AT DELIVERY HOSE FITTING

    Potential failure of the oil cooler at the delivery hose fitting (vehicle LH side) resulting in oil leakage.

    Remedy

    A new modified oil cooler is to be fitted on affected vehicles.

  3. THE FLOATING PISTON IN THE FRONT BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER MAY CRACK

    Defect

    Because of a manufacturing fault the floating piston in the front brake master cylinder may crack under high stress conditions typical of track use frequent ABS interventions or if a machine is dropped. This could reduce the efficiency of the front brake.

    Remedy

    On affected machines replace the floating piston in the front brake master cylinder with a modified version.

  4. REAR SHOCK ABSORBER MAY FAIL CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE MACHINE

    The rear shock absorber piston rod nut may come loose. The shock absorber performance may be affected possibly causing a loss of machine control.

    Remedy

    Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and check if the machine is fitted with an affected shock absorber.Any affected shock absorbers will be removed and returned to Ohlins service centre for counter measure repair.

  5. SWINGING ARM SHAFT MAY NOT BE TORQUED CORRECTLY

    Defect

    The swinging arm anchor shafts may not have been correctly torqued at the factory. If this concern is not corrected the shafts could unwind and interfere with the foot control operation. Additionally this could affect directional control of the machine.

    Remedy

    Recall the machines likely to be affected to re-torque the swinging arm anchor shafts.

  6. STEERING COMPONENTS MAY NOT BE TORQUED TO SPECIFICATION

    a) Exhaust Butterfly cable support replacement - excess heat from the catalytic converter could cause the cable support to melt or burn. b) Ohlins Steering damper bearing - the uniball bearing could slip out of its seat. c) Steering damper retaining screws - two retaining damper screws may slacken from original torque setting. d) Swinging arm shafts RH and LH shafts need to be checked for correct tightness torque. e) Front Brake master cylinder fluid reservoir tube - the front brake master cylinder fluid reservoir connection tube may interfere with the reservoir retaining screw.

    Remedy

    a) Exhaust Butterfly cable support will be replaced with a new part of higher heat rating. b) Steering damper bearing It is necessary to install the retaining washer to prevent this. c) It is necessary to tighten the steering damper screws with appropriate threadlocker applied ot the original torque setting. d) Check Swinging arm shafts RH and LH for correct tightness torque. e) It is necessary to replace the nut with a new washer and re-designed retaining nut.

  7. POSSIBILITY OF LOSS OF CONTROL

    An incorrect fixing screw retaining the swing arm to the rear suspension linkage has been fitted to some machines. It is possible that the incorrect fixing screw could fail resulting in the rear suspension collapsing and the rider losing control of the machine.

    Remedy

    Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to check whether the screw retaining the swing arm to the rear suspension is correct. Where the screw is found to be incorrect replace the screw.

  8. LOSS OF REAR BRAKING EFFICIENCY

    There is a potential for the friction material on the rear brake pads to come away from the brake pad due to a fault in the adhesion. There is a possibility if ignored the brake pads will deteriorate leading to a loss of rear brake efficiency.

    Remedy

    Affected brake pads will be replaced.
