1. POSSIBILITY OF LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL

   Defect

   The bearings which locate the support for the telescoping adjustment of the steering column may become displaced with possible loss of steering control if a securing clip is not fitted correctly.

   Remedy

   Likely to be affected vehicles will be recalled during which a check of the steering shaft will be made. Should the shaft be faulty it will be replaced.

2. HOT ENGINE EXHAUST GASES MAY MELT PARK BRAKE HOSE

   Defect

   The circuit 3 air pipe connected to the air reservoir is fitted too close to the engine exhaust. The hot gasses could melt the pipe and cause an air leak and the park brake to malfunction.

   Remedy

   Fit a new quick release coupling assembly to relocate the hose.

3. SECOND AXLE LOWER SPRING ARM CONCERN

   Defect

   In some cases fitment of nylon thrust washers may allow excessive lateral movement of the second axle suspension lower spring arms. This could loosen the fixing bolts at the spring eye bracket and affect the steering control.

   Remedy

   Fit an extra support bracket at the spring eye bracket and new thrust washers.

4. STEERING DRAG LINK AND TRACK ROD BALL JOINT CLAMP BOLTS MAY LOOSEN AND AFFECT THE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE

   Defect

   The nuts securing the drag link and track rod ball joint clamps may not have been pre-treated. As a result the tightness torque could be too low and the nuts could loosen which in extreme cases could lead to loss of steering.

   Remedy

   Replace suspect nuts/bolts with correct version.

5. POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT

   Defect

   The glow plug relay bracket can break due to vibration with a risk of causing a short circuit which may lead to the wires igniting.

   Remedy

   Replace with an improved thicker bracket.

6. LOOSE BUMPER FIXINGS MAY AFFECT STEERING CONTROL

   The nuts securing the front underrun protection bumper may not have been tightened sufficiently which could lead to loosening of the fixing bolts and affecting steering control.

   Remedy

   Recall affected vehicles remove fixing bolts apply Loctite and retorque to correct figure.

7. UNSCHEDULED ACTIVATION OF STARTER MOTOR WHEN IN MOTION

   The starter motor may be accidentally activated as a result of the ignition switch wires shorting on the loom connector and pneumatic switch mounting plates on the steering column.

   Remedy

   Affected vehicles are being recalled for the fitment of clips/tie wraps and protective trim on the steering column/pneumatic switch plate to secure and protect the wiring loom.

8. CRACKING OF FRONT AXLE U BOLTS

   On a small batch of vehicles the material quality of the front U bolts is suspect and may result in cracking of the bolts.

   Remedy

   Affected vehicles are being recalled to have the U bolts replaced with quality assured examples.

9. FAILURE OF POWER STEERING PUMP

   A gear wheel in the power steering pump may crack causing loss of steering power assistance.

   Remedy

   Recall the affected vehicles and replace the power steering pump with a unit having a production date of 20A96 or greater.

10. POSSIBLE RUPTURE OF POWER STEERING HOSE

    Defect

    The oil hose on the pressure side of the power steering system is not to specification and could rupture with resultant loss of steering power assistance.

    Remedy

    Recall the affected vehicles and replace the pressure side hose with a modified and quality assured version.

11. INSUFFICIENT TORQUEING OF PROPELLOR SHAFT COUPLING BOLTS

    The bolts coupling the propellor shaft to the differential and/or the bolts coupling intermediate propellor shaft sections may not be sufficiently torqued.

    Remedy

    Recall the affected vehicles and check the torque of the subject bolts retorqueing where necessary.

12. POSSIBLE FAILURE OF STEERING BOX MOUNTING BRACKET
