DPS SHAFT MAY BREAK CAUSING A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL

The DPS shaft may break causing a loss of steering control.
Remedy
Affected machines will be assessed and where possible an interim repair can be completed. The manufacturer advises to STOP using the machine until the recommended repair is completed.

The main shaft for the Dynamic Power Steering may crack and fragment. It is possible for a fragment to lodge in the mechanism and cause the operator to lose control of the steering.
Remedy
Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to inspect and if necessary replace the Dynamic Power Steering unit.

LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL

It has been identified that an electrical short circuit to earth of the dynamic power steering (DPS) may occur. This can result in the vehicle suddenly steering to the left of it's own accord causing the driver to lose directional control.
Remedy
Recalled vehicles will have the DPS system upgraded with new software which will alert the driver to the presence of a problem. Additionally disable the DPS in order to prevent any undesirable steering inputs.
