  1. WHEEL MAY DETATCH

    RM/2015/005 · 13 Apr 2015

    13 Apr 2015

    Defect

It is possible that during maintenance work on brake discs and/or wheel changes threaded fasteners might have been over tightened. The over tightening can result in cracks in the wheel flange. In the course of a lengthy service life the cracks can propagate and under worst-case conditions lead to fracture of the bolted join and the wheel separating from the machine. Initially owners will be warned of the concern and when the new components are available the owners will be notified so the components can be replaced.

    Remedy

Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected and replace the aluminium wheel flange with a steel flange.

    Build window

    Built 4 Dec 2002 – 5 Apr 2011

    ~23,427 vehicles affected

  2. ENGINE MAY STALL

    RM/2013/030 · 20 Dec 2013

    20 Dec 2013

    Defect

On certain machines the software data in the Engine Control Unit (ECU) may have to tight a limit on the throttle value signal. In rare cases this can cause the engine to stall and cause the rider to loose control of the machine.

    Remedy

Recall all affected machines and install new updated software.

  4. BRAKING EFFICIENCY MAY BE COMPROMISED

    RM/2013/001 · 15 Jan 2013

    15 Jan 2013

    Defect

Foaming of the brake fluid may occur in the brake fluid reservoir of the front brake. It is therefore possible that air can then enter the front braking system and adversely affect the performance of the front brake.

    Remedy

Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to fit a screen into the brake fluid reservoir.

    Build window

    Affected build dates not specified

    ~348 vehicles affected

  5. DIRECTIONAL CONTROL MAY BE IMPAIRED

    RM/2010/024 · 30 Nov 2010

    30 Nov 2010

    Defect

Rear suspension relay lever pivot joint bearings may corrode through ingress of water. This can cause stiffness in the bearings and if not attended to over a protracted period the resistance in the bearings can eventually lead to the joints failing and sagging of the suspension to the extent that it will allow the rear wheel cover to lower onto the rear tyre. Should this event occur the speed and possibly the directional control could be impaired.

    Remedy

Recall the machines that are likely to be affected to replace the original relay levers with re-designed relay levers.

    Build window

    Built 29 Oct 2003 – 23 Sep 2010

    ~5,360 vehicles affected

  6. THE BRAKING EFFICIENCY OF THE FRONT BRAKES COULD DIMINISH SEVERELY.

    RM/2009/024 · 24 Jun 2009

    24 Jun 2009

    Built 1 Dec 2008 – 20 Mar 2009

    ~706 vehicles affected

  7. REDUCTION OF FRONT BRAKE EFFICIENCY

    RM/2007/038 · 6 Sep 2007

    6 Sep 2007

    Defect

Vibration on a long ride at a constantly high engine speed can under certain circumstances causing foaming of the brake fluid in the reservoir of the front brakes. The possibility therefore of this foaming causing air to enter into the braking system cannot be excluded. Should air enter the system the efficiency of the front brakes can diminish severely dependant upon the volume of air which has entered the system.

    Remedy

Recalled machines will have the front brake system bled and a damper weight installed in the front brake fluid reservoir.

  8. OIL LEAKAGE MAY OCCUR

    RM/2007/001 · 15 Jan 2007

    15 Jan 2007

    Defect

It has been identified that frequent short trip usage at low ambient temperatures causes condensation in the engine oil this condenses at the outlet port of the oil-tank breather. If temperature falls below 0 degrees Celsius this may cause condesate to freeze and block the breather line to the oil tank. The engine's lubrication system configuration means that the suction pump's oil delivery rate is higher than that of the delivery pump consequently the over pressure produced can cause the oil tank to rupture allowing oil to escape and contaminate the rear tyre.

    Remedy

Recalled machines will have the oil tank cap replaced.

    Build window

    Built 1 Jan 2005 – 22 Jan 2007

    ~2,128 vehicles affected

  9. ABS MAY FAIL

    RM/2006/022 · 1 Jun 2006

    1 Jun 2006

    Defect

In certain exceptional circumstances (constant use of the ABS) it is possible for the ABS to stop functioning. This is as a result of excessive pressure building up in the ABS system.

    Remedy

Recall the machines that are likely to be affected and fit modified brake discs which will decrease the volume in the brake system caused by very high temperatures and thereby discourage the 'overpressure' effect.

    Build window

    Affected build dates not specified

    ~84 vehicles affected

  10. ABS MAY FAIL

    RM/2006/020 · 14 Mar 2006

    14 Mar 2006

    Defect

In certain exceptional circumstances (constant use of the ABS) it is possible for the ABS to stop functioning. This is as a result of excessive pressure building up in the ABS system.

    Remedy

To recall the machines that are likely to be affected and fit a pressure restrictor into the hand brake control hydraulics.

    Build window

    Affected build dates not specified

    ~5,575 vehicles affected

  11. ABS FUNCTION MAY FAIL

    RM/2005/017 · 7 Jul 2005

    7 Jul 2005

    Defect

There is a possibility of the ABS sensor cable sagging into a loop in the vicinity of the front brake left caliper following disassembly work i.e. a tyre change. This can result in the sensor cable chafing against the brake disc with the result that the ABS function can fail.

    Remedy

Recalled machines will be fitted with an additional sensor cable retaining clip.

    Build window

    Affected build dates not specified

    ~302 vehicles affected

  12. LEAK IN FUEL SYSTEM

    RM/2005/019 · 14 Apr 2005

    14 Apr 2005

    Defect

Possibility of fuel leakage from the fuel pipe quick release mechanism or clips.

    Remedy

Recalled machines will be checked for fuel leaks and the O sealing rings replaced. Should the body of the quick release coupling be leaking fuel this also will be replaced.

    Build window

    Affected build dates not specified

    ~8,673 vehicles affected

  13. OIL MAY LEAK FROM OIL PUMP AND MAY CONTAMINATE REAR WHEEL

    RM/2000/005 · 14 Mar 2000

    14 Mar 2000

    Defect

The circlip which holds the spring loaded thermostatic element in the oil pump housing may work loose and cause oil to leak out and make its way to the rear wheel whilst the motorcycle is ridden and may place safety of rider at risk.

    Remedy

Recall affected motorcycles and check circlip location. If faulty oil thermostat unit will be replaced.

    Build window

    Built 17 Jan 1997 – 19 Jul 1999
