The tread may detach which will be progressive. The warnings are: increasing vibrations and noise. If the warnings are ignored the tread can separate from the steel belting which leads to reduced handling and eventually to tyre 'blow out'.
Remedy
Recall the tyres that are likely to be affected and replace them with quality assured product.
